My volunteer work revolves around creating a sustainable environment. To that end, I volunteer as a Master Gardener of Ulster County. After first training and volunteering as a Master Gardener in Los Angeles, I found it helped me find a community near my home.
The Shandaken Community Gardens is one I helped foster where I live. We also build gardens in many locations, and have a hotline where the public can get information about gardens and the surrounding environment.
In 2014, I returned to working in New York City. I joined the Clinton Community Garden. Since 1984, this garden has survived the onslaught of booming construction in midtown to become one of the most beautiful hideaways in New York. I also work on the 44th St. Pier Garden.
Gardening appears on this website because it is part of who I am. Environment activism infuses my work and my world view.
